In spite of the progress Ghana has made in improving access to education for all, there are still challenges preventing thousands of children from going to school and learning.
The school environment is often not conducive to learning. Classes are overcrowded, water and sanitation facilities are inadequate, and trained teachers and school books are in short supply. The poor quality of education is reflected in students' results. Children in rural areas face even more challenges.
Due to fishing and farming, many children in rural Ghana attend school only three days a week. Classrooms are empty on Wednesdays and Fridays when kids help their families. Nearly 623,500 children of primary school age are still not enrolled.
Existing school infrastructure is often limited. Many children study in makeshift spaces with no walls, no desks, no shelter from rain. Some walk miles to reach any school. A proper classroom can change everything.
Given the right environment, these kids will flourish. Education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. Your support builds the foundation they need to dream bigger and reach further.
